1. Where did you grow up?

Midfield, Alabama – a suburb of Birmingham.

2. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?

John 6:1-13.

The story of the fish and loaves reminds me that who we are and what we have are good enough for God to use.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

“To Kill a Mockingbird.”

The time, theme and setting all had a big impact on me when I read the book and later saw the film in 1968.

4. Who are three people you admire?

Franklin Roosevelt, Nelson Mandela and Jessie Jones (a member and mentor in my first church staff role).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I made my only hole-in-one at a charity golf tournament; it just happened to be the hole that paid $10,000 for any hole-in-one.
