LeDayne McLeese Polaski was on the staff of BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz for 21 years. She’s currently “rewiring” – taking some time to rest and relax, working part time at QC Family Tree and planning to look for justice-based work in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the fall.
- Where did you grow up?
Greenville, South Carolina.
- What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
I love the story of Peter and Cornelius.
It upends everything Peter knows to be good and right and moral, and I am mystified as to why this story hasn’t had more influence in the church.
- What is your favorite movie? Why?
I’m not much of a moviegoer, but I love live theater. My family and I were wowed by “Come From Away” on Broadway last summer.
I didn’t think it was possible to create a musical about 9/11 and its aftermath, but they pulled this poignant and painful story off beautifully and movingly.
- Who are three people you admire?
The people who educated me (particularly those at Furman University), as well as people working for peace in creative and courageous ways in difficult and dangerous circumstances, including Philip, Boaz, Lance, Christina, Pini, Luz, Dalia, Eleazar and many others.
- What is one little-known fact about yourself?
People are sometimes surprised to learn, given my professional commitments to peacemaking, that I grew up in a very military-oriented family. My stepdad was a Marine, and three of my four brothers are combat veterans.
