Jennifer Lau is associate executive director of Canadian Baptist Ministries.

  1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. A born-and-bred Canadian.

  1. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?

Romans 8:38-39.

I love the thought that we can never be separated from the love of Christ – comforting and yet challenging at the time.

  1. What is your favorite movie? Why?

It’s hard to choose just one favorite because I majored in film studies, and there are so many good ones. If pressed, I would say “Chungking Express” directed by Wong Kar-Wai.

Beautiful cinematography. Intricate storytelling. Superb acting. It’s a masterpiece.

  1. Who are three people you admire?

Mother Teresa of Calcutta; Tirana Burke, founder of the Me Too movement; and Virginia Lau, my mother.

  1. What is one little-known fact about yourself?

Besides my family and close friends, not many people know that I love to cook (and eat)! It’s probably what I would be doing full-time if I wasn’t working at CBM.
