Shaw, Mississippi (in the middle of the Mississippi Delta).
2. What is your favorite verse, book or story in the Bible? Why?
Isaiah 58:1-14.
This passage is why I moved back to Mississippi after being gone for 18 years.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“The Fundamentals of Caring.”
It really speaks to the gamut of the human experience with a great sense of humor.
4. Who are three people you admire?
Edward Said (scholar and activist that is credited with Orientalism (1978), the charter document for postcolonial theory), Joe Cooper (retired philosophy and religion professor from Mississippi College and a POW from World War II) and Letty Russell (pastor and liberation theologian).
5. What is one little-known fact about yourself?
I went to college on a scholarship for winning a state carpentry contest in high school.
