David Gushee is Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics and director of the Center for Theology and Public Life at Mercer University in Atlanta.

The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

It is the central block of Jesus’ moral teaching in the Bible.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

“Casablanca” if I want drama, “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” if I want humor, “It’s a Wonderful Life” if I want Christmas!

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Ida B. Wells Barnett and Martin Luther King Jr.

5. What is one little-known fact about yourself?

I adore baseball and can tell you pretty much every player on every major league team in 1971.
