  • Where did you grow up?

Wichita, Kansas, and Farmers Branch, Texas, a suburb of Dallas

  • What is your favorite book, verse or story in the Bible? Why?

I love the story of the Good Samaritan, which reveals to us that it was an unexpected outsider, not religious leaders, who did the work of rendering care and compassion.

  • What is your favorite movie? Why?

“Chocolat.”

It’s a tale of transformation, combining the magic of chocolate with the spirited perspective that outsiders bring to a charming, though insular, French village.

Jim Hill, my husband; Barbara Jordan (1936-1996), Texas congresswoman, lawyer and educator; and Bob Allen, former managing editor of EthicsDaily.com and current news editor at Baptist News Global.

  • What is one little-known fact about yourself?

I’ve run eight half-marathons, and though I’m slow as molasses, I always finish with lessons learned about endurance for the long haul.
