EthicsDaily.com will be in Birmingham, Alabama, June 19-21 for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s 2019 general assembly.

In the assembly’s Gathering Place, an EthicsDaily.com booth will share about the organization’s work and resources, as well as offering free “swag” to people who stop by.

From 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 20, Charles Foster Johnson – EthicsDaily.com’s Baptist of the Year for 2018 and executive director of Pastors for Texas Children – will be at the booth to greet guests and share about his work.

Mitch Randall, EthicsDaily.com’s executive director, will participate in two workshops during the assembly.

On Thursday, June 20 – from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in room East L (East Meeting Rooms) – Randall will facilitate a panel discussion at a workshop titled “Pursuing Justice Together.”

Social justice leaders within CBF will address pressing issues in congregations and discuss the importance of collaboration in seeking justice around the world. Topics and panelists are:

On Friday, June 21 – from 3 to 4 p.m. in room East J (East Meeting Rooms) – Randall will participate in a workshop on “Press Freedom as Religious Freedom.”

Randall will join Brian Kaylor, editor and president of Word & Way, and David Wilkinson, executive director and publisher at Baptist News Global, to discuss why press freedom is not only a critical right worthy of defending but also essential to ensuring religious freedom.

The session will explore troubling national and global trends on declining press freedoms, how restrictions on press freedoms currently impede religious efforts in several countries, and how Baptists can advocate for greater press freedoms.
