Whenever I fill the pulpit of a church — near or far, large or small — it is not surprising to see another name listed in the order of worship: Stan Pethel.

Lacking omnipresence, Stan is not in attendance everywhere his name appears. Yet choral music bearing his name is sung during numerous worship services widely each Sunday.

The longtime professor of music at Berry College, Stan is the composer or arranger of more than 1,200 published works. And he will be present (in person) at the Baptists Today/Nurturing Faith Celebration dinner at 6 pm on Thursday, Sept. 17, at First Baptist Church, 100 E. 4th Ave., Rome, Ga.

Any you are invited to join us for this good evening!

Berry College Provost Kathy Richardson, a Baptists Today/Nurturing Faith director, will conduct a musical interview with Stan — at the piano — during the dinner event. We will also recognize Ann Roebuck of Rome, a former Board chair of Baptists Today, as director emerita.

Please make reservations ($30 per person) by September 13 online or by check to Baptists Today, P.O. Box 6318, Macon, GA 31208-6318.
