One week from today is Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3), a movement launched in 2012 to encourage charitable giving during the week following Black Friday’s sales.
In 2018, more than $400 million was donated on Giving Tuesday, with 3.6 million people making online donations and the mean gift amount being $105.55.

EthicsDaily.com will send 20% of all donations made on Dec. 3 to assist with Fellowship Southwest’s immigrant ministry initiatives.
Fellowship Southwest is led by Field Coordinator Marv Knox, with its immigrant ministry initiatives overseen by Jorge Zapata, associate coordinator of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Texas and director of Fellowship Southwest’s ministry to immigrants.

While Fellowship Southwest’s network includes three regional Cooperative Baptist Fellowship organizations – CBF of Oklahoma, CBF of Texas and CBF West – it is an ecumenical organization that seeks “to break through denominational definitions and boundaries so we can do more work together instead of getting bogged down in churchy talk.”
A few ways that Fellowship Southwest has ministered to and advocated on behalf of immigrants include:
- Supporting individuals, local churches and faith-based ministries who are providing for the needs of asylum seekers (see here and here).
- Participating in an interfaith prayer vigil in July 2019 in Dallas on behalf of immigrant families separated from one another by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
- Organizing a prayer vigil in June 2018 to call attention to the detention of unaccompanied minors, which EthicsDaily.com Executive Director Mitch Randall attended. EthicsDaily.com also provided video coverage.
