The book of Ruth.
Ruth was resilient. Boaz was honorable. And their marriage, though it would have been suspicious to a lot of folks, sure seemed to be blessed by God. It points us to ways of thinking only the best whatever the challenge.
- What is your favorite movie? Why?
John Ford’s “The Searchers.”
Watch it and you’re apt to learn a whole lot about America, the West and just how hard it is figure out who the bad guys and good guys are in this world.

Desmond Tutu, Maya Angelou, Clarence Jordan and John Donne. OK, that’s four, not three.
- What is one little-known fact about yourself?
My dad used to own a liquor store in Lubbock, which meant he could give me a first-rate education on how people really are.
