Baptist Center for Ethics / EthicsDaily.com will have two events on June 29 during the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s 2017 general assembly in Atlanta.

A workshop from 3 to 4 p.m., co-sponsored by CBF Global Missions, will focus on EthicsDaily.com’s newest documentary, “The Disturbances.”

The documentary shares a previously untold story about how missionaries and Nigerian pastors saved lives during the 1966 tribal genocide in Nigeria.

It educates about the real, gritty nature of mission work, spurs conversation about human rights, genocide, education, humanitarian aid and more, and inspires mission giving and going.

Cliff Vaughn, the film’s co-producer and media producer at EthicsDaily.com, will moderate the event.

It will feature film clips and a discussion between Vaughn, Caleb Oladipo (CBF Missions Council chair) and Sam Harrell (former CBF field personnel in Kenya and CBF associate coordinator for Global Missions).

CBF’s assembly is at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta (265 Peachtree St., NE, Atlanta, GA, 30303), and BCE’s workshop event is in the Spring Room on the Atlantic Conference Level of the hotel.

BCE will also host a drop-in reception from 4 to 4:30 p.m., also on June 29, when no other events are scheduled.

This is a time to remember the life, work and legacy of BCE’s founder, Robert Parham, who passed away March 5, and to visit with BCE staff and board members about the organization’s current initiatives and future plans.

This reception will be in Executive Suite 226 (located on the second floor of the hotel’s Atrium Tower). From the workshop level, take the main elevators up to level 2, exit to the left and look for Room 226.

No reservations are required, light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.

Guests without prior commitments are welcome to arrive a few minutes early and stay a few minutes late.

“We look forward to welcoming old friends and new friends,” says Vaughn, who has been with BCE since 2000. “We hope CBF attendees will join us to remember our past and look toward the future – a future that demands our best thinking, efforts and cooperation.”
